Translucent greenish botryoidal prehnite almost completely coated with lustrous dark green epidote crystals up to 3 mm long. This is a subtly beautiful specimen that requires study, as the epidotes are gemmy and exquisite under magnification. A micro-quartz druise compliments many areas as does a smattering of white laumontites. Collected by David Dinsmore in 1982, then acquired by Dr Stephen Chamberlain, then on to Carter Rich from whom John Betts snagged it in 2008. Curiously, John has it archived ( http://www.johnbetts-fineminerals.com/jhbnyc/mineralmuseum/picshow.php?id=39874) as coming from the Bull Run Quarry (now Luck Stone) whereas George labeled it Centreville Quarry. Both are in Centreville. I’ll leave it to the locals to decide!…update…a knowledgeable source informed me it is from the Fairfax Quarry in Centreville.
